For the PTE listening Highlight Correct Summary task, you must listen to the recording (which is a minute or two long) that will be played and select the summary or the paragraph that is most closely related to that particular recording.

There are many options to choose from, but there is only one correct response.

• For almost all listening tasks, it is best to remember that you should not answer as you hear the recording. Make notes based on what you hear and answer after the recording ends based on those notes. 

In Highlight Correct Summary, do not go through the options before or when the audio is playing because you will be distracted by the amount of information. 

Instead, completely focus on the audio and write down notes (any key points, important words, dates, times etc.)

•  Pay 100% of your attention on the recording that will be around a minute or a minute and a half long. There is only one correct option out of the many options given, so make mental and physical notes of important ideas that you heard.  
• Select a response even if you are not sure about it because there is no negative marking for this task. You should also move on quickly so as to save more time for future tasks.

• Your ability to grasp, analyse, and combine information from a recording and identify the most accurate summary of the spoken text is assessed in your response in the Highlight Correct Summary task. 
• Your response is given a correct or incorrect rating. No credit is provided if you don’t respond or if you respond incorrectly.
