Multiple Choice, Single Answer-PTE Reading

For this task, you will be given a certain text and you must select a single response that is accurately suitable to the text. Unlike the Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer task where there are multiple responses possible, there is only one correct answer in this task. 

To select a response, you must simple click on checkbox next to the response. 

How do you respond to this task?

• The question under this task will require you to complete a sentence or an idea with the option you select. Read the prompt you receive very carefully and determine the meaning of the text. Once you have read it, you will be able to realize what kind of option needs to be selected. It is important to make a quick note of all the important words you notice in the prompt as well. 
• Quickly skim through the options before you start reading the prompt, and make a decision as to which seem most likely to be the answer. Then, confirm or deny it with more information from the text. 
• If you are unsure of what the answer is, select the one you think is most likely to suit the text provided to you. 
• Check all the options thoroughly before you move on and submit your answer. Do not choose the first option that makes sense to you, because all options can seem like they are correct. 
• Answer completely based on the text provided. Do not attempt to answer based on your own personal opinions or knowledge. 

Scoring

Your ability to analyse, understand, and evaluate a short reading text on an academic subject is assessed in the Multiple Choice, Single Answer section.

You will either get a correct score or in incorrect score.

Notes

• This task only scores you based on reading; your listening, writing and speaking scores are not affected by this task.
