You need PTE 79 or above in every communicative skill — Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing simultaneously. This is the Superior English category. 65–78 = Proficient (10 pts). 50–64 = Competent (0 pts but satisfies minimum). The 79 threshold applies to each skill individually.
Pearson's AI scores 7 enabling skills: Oral Fluency, Pronunciation, Spelling, Grammar, Vocabulary, Written Discourse and Reading. These feed into your 4 communicative skill scores. Students who plateau at 65–72 usually have one enabling skill acting as a ceiling. Fixing that one skill can move multiple communicative scores at once.
Students from 65–72 reach 79+ in 4–6 weeks with our methodology. Students from 60–64 need 6–8 weeks. Below 60, expect 8–12 weeks. Our free diagnostic mock gives a personalised estimate on day one.
